Join us for Our New Homeschooling Program

“Hi my name is Scarlett and I am 10 years old. I’ve been going to Service Stars since I was 5 years old. I feel super happy helping other communities and other people and I think it’s a very nice thing to do. We did a project where we assembled cat toys for cats at adoption shelters. But one of my favorites was one where we went around and got books for Cradles to Crayons. I think Service Stars if a very good thing if you want to help your kid make good choices with helping other people.” - Scarlett age 10

Hi Families! Service Stars is a service-learning program for kids. We run camps and after-school programs that get children involved in impactful, hands-on community service projects. Our goal is to introduce kids to the work of local nonprofits, develop empathy for others, and have fun while working as a team!

We are interested in offering our programming starting in the Fall of 2023 to the homeschooling community. Our classroom is centrally located in Newton Corner, which allows for several local service activities. We are hoping to connect with homeschool co-ops or interested individual homeschool families to discuss possible partnerships. We are open to designing a program that would compliment the homeschool community's needs. Please fill out the following and we will contact you!

Our Programs options…

WEEKLY OR MONTLY SESSIONS

This program is offered weekly or monthly and students register once for the year. The length of time for the program can be flexible - typically 3 to 4 hours. Each week we would come together to play games and share a community service learning experience.

Sample Session: Play a cooperative game to build a strong sense of community, listen to a youth volunteer from the Newton Food Pantry talk about their volunteer experience followed by organizing and sort bags of food to donate to the pantry. This was followed by a field trip to the food pantry to pack and donate the food and take a tour.

SINGLE SESSION

This program is offered on a single registration basis and might be related to an event or holiday. This program will be longer in length.

Sample Session: Play some get-to-know you activities and team building games. Followed by learning about the needs of students living below the poverty line and building bookshelves with a local non-profit.
