Grade-Level Planning

We are experienced teachers with a strong background in curriculum planning and development. Bring us in to consult with your staff to creatively integrate service-learning into their teaching. We will help grade-level teams develop partnerships with local organizations and plan lessons that foster deep understandings and connection. We are happy to facilitate professional development and curriculum design in a way that fits your school’s unique needs.

Preschool-Age Programs

The younger we are when we experience the joy of helping others, the deeper the life-long commitment becomes. We believe these early experiences help shape who children become as citizens of their community. We will bring fun, hands-on service projects to your preschool program as well as lessons that encourage age-appropriate discussions and understandings of how we can give back. We will come run the projects with you or give you everything you need to be successful!

Flexible Options Include:

One-Time Service Project: We will brainstorm with you to come up with a service project that fulfills the mission of your school, grade, or class. Click here to see examples of projects we’ve done in the past. Grade-specific lesson plans will be developed to introduce the issue that the project is focused around and how they will be helping. We will facilitate the community partnership, coordinate the materials and supplies, and will even come run the project with your school! A wrap-up lesson will be developed for each grade-level to culminate the project. This is a great way to build community within your school and bring groups together to work toward a philanthropic goal.

Monthly Lessons and Projects: To expose children to a variety of needs in their community, we will bring in monthly lessons and projects that cover a wide range of issues, from environmental problems, to homelessness and poverty, to animal welfare and beyond. The goal will be to help children find an area of service that they are passionate about so that they continue the work on their own. We will come in and run the projects or coordinate with teachers so they have everything they need - materials, lesson plans, project supplies, etc! This “sampling” of community service projects is a great way to build an individualized commitment to service.

Unit Based Projects: Let us help you take a unit that you’re already teaching and bring a project-based lens to it with a service mission. Our teachers can help your staff create cross-curricular units that incorporate service-learning into your daily lessons, as well as a final project that is service-based. This option will seamlessly weave project-based service learning into daily teaching in a way that can be replicated year-to-year.

Year-Long Partnerships: When children have an on-going relationship with a community organization and the population it serves, their understanding of the issue and the commitment to help deepens. We can help each grade level in your school partner with an organization in your community for the year (and beyond) and create lessons and activities to engage them regularly with that population or issue. Examples of partnerships include senior centers, homeless shelters, environmental organizations, animal shelters, etc.

Preschool Programming: For our youngest learners, we have a wide variety of hands-on projects that are age-appropriate and fun. Examples include assembling toy boxes for children in the hospital, making toys for shelter animals, making treats for nursing home residents, etc. Click here to see examples of some of the projects we’ve done. Adding a service-learning component to your preschool curriculum engages children and families in a new way that is beneficial for everyone! We can come in monthly with a different project, or help you coordinate the projects and run them yourselves.
