Serving Cold Spring Park

Another day packed with helping out the Newton Community! We were based out of Cold Spring Park today and I wouldn’t be surprised if we have some tired Stars today, as we did quite a bit of walking. The kids really enjoyed hiking the trails and hiding their kindness rocks. It was a really fun activity, I encourage you all to make some rocks and spread some kindness in the other parks around Newton and on your outdoor adventures this autumn. We had a great opportunity to do some amazing environmental work with The Newton Conservators. The Stars learned about invasive species and then got quickly to work removing them from the Meadow. We also spread some more beauty by dispersing our seed bombs that we made yesterday. There is something very satisfying about throwing those seed bombs into the woods. I can’t wait to see some beautiful wildflowers sprouting in the woods in the future. We then went on to have a tour of the farmers market. We got to chat with a few farmers and even got samples of fresh corn on the cob! Yum! The Stars were able to ring the bell to open the market and finished their day with some more dog treat sales and ice cream! We also snuck in some random acts of kindness. We bought fruits, veggies, coffee, ice cream and bread for shoppers in the farmers market. We also gave our flowers to brighten everyone’s day. There were lots of smiles from farmers, shoppers and campers! What a great day.
